SHARK TOOTH DIVE
Venice is the"Shark Tooth Capital of the World". Our waters were prehistoric feeding grounds for the ancient giant shark, Carcharocles Megalodon. On one of our specialized Shark Tooth Dive charters you can find giant shark teeth, manatee bones, whale bones, prehistoric horse bones or other unique fossils. All fossil dives are in the 25-35 foot depth range allowing for plenty of bottom time.
The average visibility in our diving area is 4 to 9 feet although teeth can be found in as little as 2 ft visibility.
We offer daily Shark Tooth Dive trips, except for some holidays. The Shark Tooth Dive is always weather dependant.
On dive days, we meet at 0800 during the winter months and 0700 during the summer months. We'll tell you what time to meet when you book your dive. A Shark Tooth Dive is a 2 tank dive; tanks and weights are included in the price, $79.00 (plus tax) when we dive in Venice and $99 (plus tax) when we dive down South. Current weather conditions determine where we will dive. We also provide an on-board snack, bottled water and soft drinks.
Each diver is required to present a Dive Certification Card upon check in. For the dive you will need a fine mesh bag for holding the fossils you find and a compass.
Come, load your gear, right on our vessel which is docked behind our dive shop. We are the only facility in Sarasota County with a boat docked next to a dive shop. We have a 31', 12.5' beam Island Hopper dive boat ("Hammerhead"), diesel powered with full electronics for finding the best sites. It is US Coast Guard certified for 12 divers.
